Mended Little Hearts of Tucson is a network of heart families that understand and support each other while raising children with heart defects and heart disease. We provide resources to help families work through overwhelming emotions and move forward to find hope, healing, and laughter. Our goal is to help parents understand that they are not alone. Hospital Visiting: Accredited volunteers visit families in the hospital whose children have been diagnosed with heart defects or heart disease or are undergoing treatment. Outreach bags are given that contain information as well as useful items for both families and patients. Internet & Telephone Visiting: Parents can connect with other heart families that truly understand and can share experiences and concerns about the challenges of heart surgery and treatment. Group Meetings: Members listen, share their experiences and discuss issues that impact our heart families. Speakers often come to help educate, clarify and answer questions about a variety of topics from nutrition to development. Social Events: Members get together to interact with other heart families outside of the hospital setting. It's a great opportunity for our heart children to play together and show off their scars. Mended Little Hearts of Tucson is dedicated to providing you the support you need. Our heart children range in ages from newborn to adult survivors and cover many different defects. We are here to help you in anyway possible. If you need someone to talk to who has been down the road you are now traveling, we are here.
Outreach Bags: Our UMC PICU surgical heart patients receive outreach bags generously donated by Saving Little Hearts. We are currently working on putting together bags for our NICU heart babies. |
